CORE expands its network of collaboration with two new sister projects

October 6, 2025

The CORE project is delighted to announce that it has expanded its network of collaboration by joining forces with two fellow Horizon Europe projects: FUTURAL and ESIRA. This new alliance of ‘sister projects’ represents a strategic step forward in our shared mission to foster sustainable and inclusive development in Europe’s rural areas.

These collaborations are vital for achieving a truly global understanding of the challenges faced by rural communities. Together, we can share research, exchange data, and leverage our collective insights to develop more effective, comprehensive, and impactful solutions.

About FUTURAL: Empowering the future through innovative smart solutions for rural areas

The FUTURAL project aims to deliver a set of digital Smart Solutions to address pressing social and environmental challenges in rural communities. By focusing on community-led innovation, the project will co-design, implement, and test these solutions with local stakeholders in diverse geographical contexts across Europe. Ultimately, FUTURAL strives to create more resilient and sustainable rural areas, better connected and more capable of improving the well-being of their citizens.

About ESIRA: Enhancing social innovation in rural areas

The ESIRA project is dedicated to promoting innovative social economy initiatives that meet the needs of Europe’s rural areas, with a particular focus on marginalised communities. The project addresses a key gap in current policies that often fail to effectively support and engage vulnerable groups. ESIRA will achieve its goals by conducting research on community-led innovation spaces, piloting new social economy initiatives, and formulating policy recommendations. The ultimate aim is to enhance the understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and facilitate knowledge exchange, helping to replicate successful solutions across rural Europe.

A shared commitment to change

These new alliances reflect the common ground that unites our projects: a commitment to empowering rural communities, strengthening labour markets for young people and vulnerable groups, and ensuring that solutions emerge from real local needs. By joining forces, we are laying the foundations for stronger synergies and greater connectivity across Europe’s regions. Above all, we hope these partnerships will be another step towards our collective goal of weaving a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future for Europe’s rural youth and communities.
